Artist Statment

Danni Farr is a multi-media artist who focuses on 2D materials, particularly that of acrylic paints and various printing techniques. Farr leans towards these mediums due to their ability to produce large quantities of artwork with a dramatic flair and is inspired by many artists but for example the works of Edvard Munch.  They’re excited by the human experience, of people and their inner machinations and how being human itself is a collaborative experience as well as creating relatable pieces that raises awareness and sometimes educates. Farr combines the conceptual and the physical in terms of the human body and mind and how they inherently interlink. Her work endeavours to create a relatable experience and reach into people inner psyches to draw out their internalised anxieties. Another aspect of Farr’s practice is exploring how mental struggles inform the body’s corporeal experience, in terms of neurodiversity such as sensory issues and the physical symptoms of trauma and anxiety. Farr is fundamentally lead by their own materials, letting the medium draw out her own struggles in a way which externalises the internal in a mix of symbolism and self-awareness.
